Wedding Wording Guide
Your wedding invitation sets the tone for the celebration while sharing the essential details your guests need to be there.
The examples below are designed to help you consider the wording that feels most appropriate for your celebration—from traditionally hosted invitations to wording led by the couple themselves. You don’t need to assemble the final wording perfectly; simply use these examples as a guide when completing your Wedding Wording Questionnaire, and I’ll take care of refining the details for your stationery.

Host Line
Who is inviting the guests.
Request Line
The invitation to attend the marriage.
Couple’s Names
Presented according to the formality and hosting structure of the invitation.
Date & Time
The date and ceremony time.
Ceremony Location
Venue name and location as appropriate.
Reception
When the reception follows at the same location, a simple line such as Reception to Follow may be included. When the reception requires additional information or takes place elsewhere, those details belong on a coordinating Reception Card or, where appropriate, the Details Card.
Dress Code
When helpful, the expected attire may be included as a discreet line at the foot of the invitation—for example, Black Tie, Black Tie Optional, Formal Attire, Semi-Formal or Resort Chic.
Traditional invitation wording often uses “the honor of your presence” for a ceremony held in a house of worship and “the pleasure of your company” for a ceremony held elsewhere. These conventions can provide a helpful starting point, but your wording will ultimately reflect the hosts, setting and character of your celebration.
